About
This site was created as a project to showcase the talents of New York’s amazing street performers, musicians and artists. If you come across one that you like, click on their name (under “Performer Profiles” on the right side of the screen) and you should get some contact information for them. You might be able to hire them, tip them, find out where they’re next playing or just tell them how much you appreciate their work.
If you’re a performer looking to add your own profile or if you want to share with us a performance or some art that you’ve seen on Manhattan’s streets, go to Add Your Own and follow the instructions. There’s no money involved and no advertising.
Give me feedback! The easiest way of having an effect on this site is to comment or to contact me. Tell me what you like or don’t like, suggest ways of improving the site, or tell me who your favorite street performer is (and their contact information, if you have it).
If you’re not very computer savvy, or don’t understand the instructions, email me to tell me what you’ve got, and I’ll try my best to help you out.
Whether you’re interested in becoming part of this sort-of guide to new york, or you’re an interested individual looking for an alternative to the regular New York tourist map, this site is here for your enjoyment, not for your money. And considering the trouble of paying for things here, and of performing in New York’s horrible weather, you both need all the help you can get.
Me:
A writer, poolplayer, trick shot artist, juggler and journalist working as the house pro at Eastside Billiards on 86th Street. I also have a bi-monthly column in FBomb Magazine, and I do a little freelancing when I can find the time. I used to work at Our Town (the Upper East Side newspaper), and have a bachelor degree in the liberal arts, which means I’m just about qualified to work at McDonalds or Burger King—although my fairly high GPA does suggest I might be able to work at, fingers crossed, Wendy’s. Before I start that promising career, however, my weekdays are spent interning at Channel 13. Born on Valentines Day, 1983, I was seven weeks premature, I’m colorblind, epileptic and left-handed…and that’s about it. If you like, contact me. Oh, and my personal website will be here soon.
